Satechi today announced a new USB-C adapter, and it was quite doozy. Despite the official name – Multiport Hybrid Satechi USB-C adapter – maybe a little boring, the actual adapter is nothing. As you would expect, the USB-C adapter is equipped with various ports, but it comes with something else, we don’t really want to look at this type of product: slot M.2.
Yes, you can install M.2 SATA SSD to this new USB-C adapter, giving you the option to take M.2 storage while traveling. It is an interesting prospect for someone who needs consistent access to portable storage, and if you are going to use a multiport adapter, it must defeat the thumb drive packaging along with him.
However, Satechi said that the USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter has a 4K HDMI display output, charging USB-C PD, and two USB-A 3.0 ports other than the USB-C port that will be connected to your device. The built-in M.2 slot offers transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, although unfortunately, the adapter does not come with the actual M.2 drive – you have to buy it separately.
Satechi said that 4K HDMI output on the adapter supports the speed of refresh 60Hz, while the USB-C-C charging port provides power up to 100W power, although 15W of the provided for the hub itself. All in all, it looks like a fairly solid accessory, especially if you can use the M.2 slot for use.
The extra function comes at a price, because Satechi’s USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter runs $ 89.99. This adapter is available today from the Satechi website and Amazon in the gray and black room.
